1/12: Supporting Small Business Saturday
Derbyshire Dales District Council is backing Small Business Saturday on December 4th. It's a nationwide campaign to encourage the use of local shops and services. More than 90% of enterprises in Derbyshire Dales employ fewer than 10 people and the District Council is using all of its communications channels to publicise the event.
3/12: Carols at Great Hucklow
There will be a Christmas community carol service at Great Hucklow Unitarian Chapel on Sunday, December 12th, starting at 5pm and followed by traditional refreshments.
3/12: Free parking
Free Saturday parking in all of High Peak Borough Council's car parks will last until Christmas Day. On other days you can pay digitally as well as with cash.
8/12: Helping the helpers
A "Help the helpers" online wellbeing session will take place on Wednesday, December 22nd between 12.30pm and 1.30pm. The hour is for employees and volunteers from the community and social enterprise sector and supported by Derbyshire County Council. 13/12: Channel 4 at Chatsworth
Channel 4 television will be taking a look behind the Christmas scenes at Chatsworth House on December 18th at 7pm.
23/12: Waste collections as normal
Derbyshire Dales waste and recycling contractor Serco has issued a statement to say that its operatives will be working normal hours over the Christmas and New Year period.

1/11: Tideswell music and video
Tideswell Theatre is organising a musical evening with folk band Harp & A Monkey in St John's Church on Saturday, November 27th at 7.30pm. The newly-completed Peak Sounds video, with audio items from around the area, is going to be showcased. Food and drink will be available – tickets from ticketsource.co.uk/tideswelltheatre.
2/11: Christmas Fair online
Marketing Peak District & Derbyshire is hosting an online Christmas Fair to help support local businesses impacted by Covid-19. The virtual stalls went online November 1st. There's more on visitpeakdistrict.com/christmas-market.
4/11: Face to face
Hucklow Parish Council is starting to hold live meetings again. November's session, open to the public, will be at the Old Methodist Chapel in Great Hucklow on November 15th from 8.00pm. Details from parish.clerk@hucklow.net.
9/11: Poppy fall
The Unitarian Chapel in Great Hucklow will host a multi-coloured poppy fall and remembrance service at 3pm on Armistice Day, November 11th.
16/11: Santa's Grotto in Eyam
On November 27th at 5.45pm Eyam village's Christmas lights will be switched on and Santa's Grotto opened. Tea and coffee will be available. In addition to the 27th, Santa's Grotto will host young visitors on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5pm to 8pm.

1/10: Hairdressers and mental health
Public Health in Derbyshire has commissioned training for hairdressers, barbers and beauty professionals to help them support customers' mental health. Training sessions will be by Zoom and last for four hours. The first is scheduled for October 4th and five more are in the pipeline. Information on derbyshire.gov.uk.
4/10: Voluntary Service AGM
Derbyshire Dales Council for Voluntary Service will hold its annual general meeting at the Agricultural Business Centre in Bakewell on Thursday, October 21st from 10.30am. All members are invited.
14/10: Fundraising in son's memory
A Tideswell mum who has been fundraising since her son died from a brain tumour three years ago, aged 28, is organising a community walk on Sunday, October 17th. Christine Billups' walk will start from Sherwood House, Sherwood Road at 11.30am. Further events are being organised at The Roost café.
21/10: Two full-time posts available
A finance manager and development worker are being sought by Derbyshire Dales Council for Voluntary Service. Both are full-time positions and application forms are on ddcvs.org.uk.
25/10: Two full-time posts available
The Farming Life Centre in Bakewell is holding a drop-in session with buffet lunch on November 1st, 10am to 3pm at the Agricultural Business Centre, as part of its "Farm for the Future" project.

3/9: Woodland Festival
The popular Woodland Festival will return to Elvaston Castle on September 18th and 19th. Two days of theatre, craft demonstrations and campfire cooking, with many product stalls. More information is on the County Council website and Facebook.
3/9: Zoom coffee morning
Derbyshire Dales Council for Voluntary Service will host its latest Zoom coffee morning on September 23rd from 10.30am. There will be presentations on the Hurst community farm and Hearing Help UK. Details from enquiries@ddcvs.org.uk.
13/9: Go Electric webinar
A one-hour webinar on September 23rd from 7pm is going to provide some of the latest information on electric cars. Questions will be answered by specialists from the Energy Saving Trust. Organised by Derbyshire Dales District Council, you can register on a link from its website.
22/9: Recycle Week
Week commencing September 20th is Recycle Week, during which Derbyshire residents will be asked to step up their recycling efforts. As technologies improve, more and more items can be recycled.
28/9: Blackwell in the Peak
The pretty hamlet of Blackwell, about 5km from Tideswell, is the latest addition to The Village Voice doorstep deliveries list. Another hamlet, Windmill, was included recently.
